Tony Hale, better known as Buster Bluth (and currently Gary Walsh on the excellent new show Veep) was a doctor on an episode of Dawson’s Creek. If we remember correctly, he had to operate on someone who had their linus bitten off by a loose seal.
Dakota Fanning (Twilight, The Runaways, War of the Worlds, etc.) played Mackenzie, the little girl that died like 30 years ago in the house that Chandler and Monica bought in the final season of Friends.
In 2010 Tom Conti warned us of the dangers of black ice when he appeared in his best Christmas tinsel as Miranda’s father in the Miranda Christmas special. If you thought he looked familiar, that’s because you might remember him from his brief role as Emily’s father at Ross & Emily’s ill-fated wedding on Friends.
Jason Isaacs is probably best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, although he’s been seen more recently as the star of NBC’s Awake, and Michael Rosenbaum is best known for his role as Smallville's Lex Luther…but in 2001 they appeared together in Sweet November looking fabulous in drag.
Anna Gunn plays Skyler White, one of the best female characters on television right now (and if you call her a bitch then I will have words with you because she’s fantastic), on AMC’s Breaking Bad, but once upon a time she was Madeline, one of the many women with whom Nate had affairs on Six Feet Under.
Kevin Rahm has been seen most recently as Lee McDermott on Desperate Housewives but he has also appeared on Mad Men as Ted Chaough (a man working for a rival firm), on Grey’s Anatomy as Mr. Duff (a patient in season 1 who claimed to be psychic), and on Friends as Monica’s helpless sous-chef on whom Phoebe develops a crush.
Thanks for the submission, toomuchtvtofunction! Your username explains a lot about this post. ^_~
Long after working as an original cast member on Saturday Night Live, Laraine Newman returned to NBC to play Mrs. Buffay, the mother of Phoebe’s half brother Frank Jr. in the Friends episode “The One with the Bullies.”
Dave Chappelle and Jim Breuer (who are both in Half Baked) appeared together in an episode of Home Improvement. They played two guys named Dave and Jim (creative!), two men who air their feelings about the women in their lives on “Tool Time” and then suffer the repercussions.
The internet’s been abuzz today with news of Aaron Paul's pre-Breaking Badcommercial for Corn Pops, but that wasn’t his only work in advertising. In a bit of eerie forshadowing, he faced off against a metal spoon of blue goo when he appeared in this commercial for Juicy Fruit gum.
(Let’s just all be grateful that the telekentic powers are limited to the gum and not the meth.)
Sebastian Roche sure has a “type” of show. He’s been seen recently as the angel Balthazar (Balthy if your nasty) on Supernatural, original vampire (OV if you’re…gangsta?) Mikael on The Vampire Diaries, or as Thomas Jerome (a shapeshifter) on Fringe, But back in 2005 he appeared as “The Sorcerer” in an episode of Charmed.
