While digging around for content, Rebecca and I found this pretty excellent PSA from 20 years ago. Skip forward to :45 for the highlight of Jeff Goldblum’s career.
In the real world, ISAFF editor Rebecca is a curator for Upworthy which means that yes, she gets paid to be on Tumblr (and dick around on the internet in general). (It’s a hard job, really). She’s part of their super/fun/exciting new Tumblr launch and it’d be real swell if you guys hopped over and checked it out.
So if any of that sounds like something you can get behind or if you just like this slick PSA from 1991 featuring celebrities like Richard Gere, Goldie Hawn, Cindy Crawford, and literally the best footage of Jeff Goldblum we have ever seen, please follow Upworthy on Tumblr! Thanks!
Simon Helberg is Howard Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory but back in the 90s he appeared on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch as the owner of a website that let users change the past. So, definitely not typecast then.
It’s our 1,000th post! In addition to starring the lovable Joseph Gordon Levitt and legendary Danny Glover, 1994’s Angels in the Outfield had some other big stars on its roster including Adrien Brody (The Pianist, Midnight in Paris, and Splice), Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers, SyFy Miniseries Tin Man, Desperate Housewives) and Matthew McConaughey (probably most famous for his naked bongo playing) as team members. Look for Matthew (shirtless) at 0:20, Adrien at 0:45, and Neal at 1:10. Other famous faces include Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) as Al the Boss Angel and Tony Danza (Who’s The Boss?) as baseball player Mel Clark.
In 1998 a 15-year-old Mila Kunis began her role as Jackie on That 70’s Show and in 2011 she received critical acclaim for her role in Black Swan, but in 1997 she played a tomboy named Jill in the straight-to-VHS movie, Honey We Shrunk Ourselves.
Between starting his career as a bar mitzvah DJ and achieving success with films like Role Models and I Love You, Man,Paul Rudd made a pit stop in 1995’s quintessential teen flick Clueless as Cher’s step-brother.
This one’s a bit complicated, so follow along: Dule Hill, who most of you know as Gus on Psych, had a small part in She’s All That, which starred Rachael Leigh Cook (Josie and the Pussycats) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby Doo), both of whom later guest starred on Psych. Whew!
One of Linda Cardellini’s (Freaks and Geeks, ER, Scooby Doo) earliest roles was this messy bit in an episode of SNICK classic, Kenan and Kel. According to IMDB she was also in Kenan and Kel’s hit movie Good Burger, but we can’t find any screencaps of that, so if you have one, send it in!
It’s an Are You Afraid of the Dark twofer! Ryan Gosling was in the Mickey Mouse Club and Gilbert Gottfried was the voice of Iago in Aladdin, but they’ve got more than Disney in common on their resumes…back in 1995 they both appeared in an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, titled “The Tale of Station 109.1” …oooh, mysterious…
Zach Braff’s painfully 90’s appearance in an episode of The Babysitter’s Club has been featured on ISAFF before as a screenshot, butginjaninja submitted this hilarious video, and we just had to post it again.
Here’s another addition to the long list of roles held by Ashley Tisdale before she went blonde and hit it big as Sharpay in the High School Musical trilogy. Does anyone remember Nickelodeon’s 100 Deeds For Eddie McDowd? Yeah. She was on that for an episode.
Editor’s note: According to IMDB, Alyson Hannigan and Brenda Song also appeared in episodes of Eddie McDowd. We can’t find screencaps or video to prove it though, so if you happen to be the sort of person who still has VHS recordings of Nickelodeon TV shows from the 90’s lying around your parents’ basement, please submit them!
